Purdue Young Faculty Association

PYFA Welcome Event
What is PYFA?
The Purdue Young Faculty Association (aka PYFA) provides opportunities for incoming and existing faculty to socialize and foster friendships and connections across the Purdue community. "Young Faculty" is open-ended and self-selecting; professors of all ranks and ages are welcome to take part in PYFA events.
PYFA organizes a mix of ongoing and special events. In addition to a weekly Monday Happy Hour and Friday Lunch Table, PYFA's signature event, with generous support of the Office of the Provost, is a welcome party every fall at the beginning of the semester for "new" and "young" faculty to meet and mingle.
Special Events:
- PYFA Fall Welcome Party
Saturday, January 20, from 8:00 pm
@PRE Restaurant & Lounge
731 Main Street, Lafayette
(corner of Main & 8th)

Ongoing Weekly Events:
- Happy Hour, always the third Friday of the month (next up: Feb. 17)
6 pm @The Black Sparrow
223 Main Street, Lafayette

- Lunch Hour, always the first Friday of the month (next up: March 2)

You should receive emails from PYFA inviting you to these weekly events, as well as various Lafayette festivals, Purdue Convocations performances, and other opportunities to socialize with faculty from departments across campus. New faculty are added to the PYFA mailing list each Fall; however, sometimes information is not available for email contact, and mid-year hires may unintentionally be missed. If you do not receive these emails and would like to be on the list, please send a request to pyfa@purdue.edu
Have a suggestion for a future PYFA event? Want to ask a specific question about PYFA? Please contact one or both of the co-chairs directly.
2011-2012 PYFA Co-Chairs:
- Haley Oliver hfoliver@purdue.edu, Department of Food Science
- Jeffrey Turco jturco@purdue.edu, Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures
