A. Dale Whittaker, PhD
A. Dale Whittaker became Vice Provost for Undergraduate Academic Affairs of Purdue University on July 1, 2010. He earned a bachelor's degree with great honors in Agricultural Engineering from Texas A&M University and a master's degree and doctorate in Agricultural Engineering from Purdue University.
As vice provost, Dr. Whittaker is responsible for undergraduate education, admissions, enrollment management, academic planning, program evaluation, and general academic policy development and implementation. The vice provost also oversees student access, transition and success programs, academic program development, the Center for Instructional Excellence, the Oral English Proficiency Program, the University Honors Program, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Certificate Program, and the Undergraduate Studies Program.
Also as vice provost, he lead or encouraged the Foundations of Excellence, a study in the first-year college experience, as well as the Honors College, the balanced trimester plan, Core Curriculum, IMPACT, and the Advisor task force.
Dr. Whittaker joined the Purdue faculty in 2002 as the Associate Dean and Director of Academic Programs in the College of Agriculture and professor in Agricultural Engineering.
