The Purdue Center for Professional Selling was established in 2010 with multiple goals that align with the university mission of teaching, research, and engagement. Housed in the college of Health and Human Sciences and the department of Consumer Science, the center focuses on undergraduate students, sales faculty and their research, and needs of industry.

One of the center's goals is to provide students with a variety of professional growth opportunities. These opportunities are practical and drawn from the real world, enabling students to bridge what they learn in the classroom with industry expectations. The Purdue Center for Professional Selling is aligned with the philosophy of our sales faculty; that selling is a relationship-based consultative process. Through the center, students experience real-life situations to establish rapport and build trust and identify needs. A second goal of the center is to support research projects of the sales faculty. Students and companies benefit by state-of-the-art research in areas and topics of selling trends, new sales formats, effects of charisma in selling, and culture.

The center is highly engaged with a variety of industries and helps to connect companies with Purdue students who are interested in careers in professional selling, regardless of their major. The center, in collaboration with member companies, delivers industry sales competitions, professional development seminars, business networking workshops, career-readiness workshops, and other events that bring students into business relationships with company representatives.
