How to Send Files Via FTP
Sometimes files are simply too large to send via e-mail, or you may not have any disks handy. Printing Services has a quick, easy way around that - it's called FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and it's a great way to send files directly from your computer to us.
First Things First
There are many methods in which you can FTP files, the most common being a FTP application.
If using a PC, check the "Start" menu, under programs, for any FTP programs. If using a MAC, do a search (File/Find or command-F) for any FTP programs.

There are several different versions of software that you can choose from. For our demonstration purposes we will be using Ws_FTP, SecureFX for the PC and Fetch for the Mac. If you don't any of these apps, you can download a working trial of Ws-Ftp or SecureFX for non-Purdue users. Purdue students/staff/faculty are eligible for a free license download of SecureFX for either office or home use. Fetch is available from FetchSoftworks as a free 15 day trial (a full license cost is $25). Students Faculty and Staff are eligible for a free full license.

Please contact Printing Services for connection information.

For additional assistance, contact our front office at (765) 494-2006.

If working on a PC and using a FTP application is not an option, files may be uploaded through Internet Explorer. It is important to note that this is not a recommended FTP method to the Printing Services server.

~ PLEASE NOTE ~

If attempting to FTP architectural drawing/building plans for output by Printing Services and need instructions or assistance, you must contact the Office of the University Architect. The FTP server used for such files is maintained by that department.
