Thesis Printing and Binding
| All your thesis needs are provdided by Boiler CopyMaker, located in Room 157 of the Purdue Memorial Union (next to the Boiler Express Card Office). |

Copies of your thesis can be made from a hard-copy original or PDF file. We accept USB/flash drive or CDs.
You can also email your file to blcm@purdue.edu.
Files must be saved in PDF format through Adobe Distiller. PDF Writer may substitute fonts.
To avoid text shifting during conversion to PDF: set up Adobe’s PDF maker as your primary (default) printer before you open your document and set pagination. Please check your PDF file before you bring it to BoilerCopyMaker. PDF files print as you save them.
If the file prints incorrectly, you are still charged for any copies. |

| Binding Types for Thesis |
 |
Thesis Binding: Thesis binding, similar to a hard cover book, consists of 3 metal screw posts
holding the cover, contents, and spine together. Accepted by the Purdue Thesis Office.
Gold foil stamping on the covers is available. Takes 4-6 weeks.

Case (Book) Binding: has hard cover back and spine, like a traditional hard cover book.
Black covers only. |

Plastic binding: Also commonly called comb bind, Plastic binding is also an economical
and fast way to bind. For customers who need their books to lay flat, this type of binding is ideal.
Pages can easily be added or changed to these books at a later date. Black plastic is the only
color in stock, but other colors are available to order. Standard colors can be in stock in two to
three days, and exact PMS color matches are available at an extra cost. The maximum thickness
for a plastic bound book is 1 3/4". There is no minimum sheet count requirement.
The book length, or height should be 11" or less, which is in stock. Custom lengths are available. |

Coil binding: Coil binding, or continuous loop, is similar to plastic binding but more permanent.
Coil binding can fold back flat, unlike plastic binding. Pages can be added or changed later,
but not easily. This type of binding is not recommended on books over 3/4" thick. As for book heights, Printing Services has 11" or less in stock, with custom lengths available. Coil binding is usually plastic, but metal is available by ordering from one of our vendors. Black is our standard color, but other colors can be ordered and exact PMS matches are available at an extra cost. Lengths (on the binding edge) must be in 1/4" increments. |
