Terry D. Strueh

Vice President for Governmental Relations

Terry Strueh was reared on a farm in southwestern Indiana. He attended high school in Evansville and graduated from Purdue with a BS in agriculture in 1969.

Strueh began his career at Purdue with the Cooperative Extension Service from 1969-1976, continuing as director of Agricultural Services and Regulation from 1977-1992. He served as director of State Legislative Services from 1992-1996, assistant vice president for State Relations from 1996-1999, and vice president for State Relations from 1999-2001. He has served as vice president of Governmental Relations since 2001.

His previous professional activities have included serving as a delegate to the Second World Food Conference of the United Nations; member of the advisory panel of world food issues of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations; member of the standing committees on marketing of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA); appointee to the USDA Meat and Poultry Inspections Service Advisory Committee; advisory committees to the US FDA, EPA and Census bureau; and vice president and president of NASDA. He also chaired the US States-Canadian Provinces Agriculture Accord. He currently serves as a member of the executive committee of the Midwest Higher Education Commission.

His current responsibilities at Purdue University include coordinating relationships and communication with the Indiana Congressional delegation and the legislative and executive branches of Indiana state government. He also serves as the university liaison with the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.

Strueh is active in a number of community and University-related activities.

He resides in a rural area south of Lafayette with his wife, Karen, a teacher at McCutcheon High School. They have two children, Dr. Kurt Strueh, DVM, and Sarah E. Strueh Akin, a 1999 Purdue College of Agriculture (food science) graduate.
