Welcome

The Center for Pre-Professional Advising office at Purdue University provides you with the information you need to prepare for a career in a professional field -- from choosing the right career for you to figuring out what credentials you need to enter that field and apply to various programs. We also offer a professional file service that stores and distributes your collected letters of recommendation to health professions programs.

Students from all majors and with interests in any healthcare or law field are welcomed and encouraged to make use of the Center for Pre-Professional Advising office as a supplement to their academic advising. Appointments can be made by calling (765) 496-2690. Students may e-mail questions to preprofessional@purdue.edu.

Health in the Headlines

Social Networking Can Haunt You: A University of Florida study published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine examined the Facebook pages of over 300 medical students and found information faculty considered inappropriate for future doctors.  Only 37% of the medical students in the study had set their pages to "private."  Researchers speculate that in the future these pages could be used against physicians during malpractice lawsuits.  So control access to your site and refrain from posting items that may cause you embarassment as a professional.
