Policy Creation and Approval Process

To ensure a consistent process and approach to creating and writing policies, the following checklist for review and approval has been established.

  1. Creation and approval of policy by issuing unit. (Check “Writing
    and Formatting Policies
    ” for more information.)
  2. Editorial review by Purdue Marketing Communications (PMC). (Contact PMC
    at 42034.)
  3. Assignment of document number to policy by PMC.
  4. Legal review obtained by issuing unit.
  5. Presidential approval (if needed) obtained by issuing unit.
  6. Final proof (punctuation, spelling, formatting) and posting on Web site
    by PMC.
  7. Finalized electronic file provided by PMC to issuing unit, along with
    notification of policy posting.
  8. Previous policy version (if applicable) archived by PMC in electronic
    archive on secured server.
  9. List 39 notified of policy revision/creation by issuing unit.
