OFFICE OF THE DEAN OF STUDENTS
Office of the Dean of Students
Staff members in the Office of the Dean of Students (ODOS) offer students a variety of services including information about University resources, confidential counseling about personal concerns, and victim assistance. The Office of the Dean of Students and the Purdue Police Department cooperatively distribute publications that address issues such as sex offenses, including acquaintance rape and rape; alcohol abuse; and theft. Matters related to student conduct are the responsibility of the ODOS staff. A disciplinary action may be initiated to address student conduct-related matters in cases involving a student accused of violating any regulation governing student conflict. Such actions follow the established due-process procedures as described in University Regulations.
When University disciplinary hearings are held concerning alleged sexual assault, the student and the student's accuser are entitled to the same opportunities to have others present during the hearing. Both the student and the student's accuser shall be informed of the outcome of the disciplinary proceedings.
Sanctions that the University may impose in cases involving sex offenses include disciplinary probation, probated suspension, suspension, and expulsion.
