California Spring Break Tour 2007
This year for our spring break tour we headed west to California! Our journey began in sunny West Lafayette. We drove to Indianapolis, where our first flight departed for Atlanta. After a short layover, our next flight took off for Los Angeles and we arrived at 8:30 P.M. local time.
Our tour of the golden state began in So Cal, where we met up with Purdue alumni volunteering at the Los Angeles Food Bank, grabbed lunch at the University of Southern California and shared the company of some wonderful PMO Club members and Glee Club families at the Blue Water Grill in Garden Grove.
A highlight of the tour was performing at the breathtaking Crystal Cathedral. Not only did we perform for hundreds of people live, but our services were aired on television for millions to see one week later! The architecture of the building was most unique. It was constructed of glass and the pipe organ was amazing with an extravagant 16,000 pipes echoing beautiful music in the vast cathedral. Among our many performances of the tour, highlights included performing between matches at the Pacific Life Open tennis tournament, entertaining children at the Los Angeles Children's hospital, homestaying with students from Azusa Pacific University and touring the grounds of Hugh Hefner's famous mansion in Beverly Hills!
After an exhilarating week in sunny California, we flew out of LAX at 7 A.M. Our layover in Atlanta was slightly delayed, but it gave us a chance to catch some of the Purdue basketball game on TV. We had an absolutely unforgettable trip and were very fortunate to spread the news about Purdue! Back to classes!
