Center Stage: Purduette Spring Spectacular
The Annual Purduette Spring Spectacular was held on Saturday, April 17 at the Long Center. Thank you to the National Group for their generous support of the show! The Purduettes wowed the audience with their elegance in an outstanding show that had a little something for everyone in the audience.
The ladies pump up the energy for one of the opening numbers, "Big Noise".
Flappers (left to right) Raylene Schramer, Lyndsey Hernandez, Allie Rieth, and Rachelle Buuck provide comic relief for the audience while performing tight harmonies of songs from the 1920's.
Jeff directs the women in one of their more challenging pieces, "Dirait On", a piece that is sung entirely in French.
Junior Carrie Syberg leads the ladies in the heart-wrenching ballad, "One Less Bell". This tune did not leave a dry eye in the house.
The altos show off their vocal talents in the song, Cloudburst. This song debuted at Spring Spectacular and featured pianist and Assistant Director of the Purdue Varsity Glee Club, Ted Arthur. What an amazing number! Thanks, Ted!
Senior Amanda Conte was pleasantly surprised with a lavalier from her boyfriend and Purdue Varsity Glee Club member, Kyle Sutton. The Glee Club lavalier is a Glee Club tradition in which the men sing a song and present a special trinket to their mother and the woman that they intend to marry.
Kyle, with the help of Senior Glee Club member Andy Wirtner on guitar, serenaded Amanda with the Michael Buble hit "Everything".
The Shoops brought to life the songs of the 60s and 70s during their two song set. Here they got groovy to a tune originally by The Archies, "Jingle Jangle".
Sophomore Abby Green impresses the audience with her rich, alto sound on "If You've Got Leaving on Your Mind".
Always full of surprises, the Emotions channel their "inner GaGa" to perform the song "Bad Romance" originally performed by pop superstar Lady GaGa.
The ladies of the Emotions were joined by Sophomore Purdue Varsity Glee Club member Allan Summers on stage to add a little drama to their tune "Bad Romance". It wouldn't be a Lady GaGa number without a little drama!
The 2009-2010 Purduette Seniors join on stage for their rendition of "Smile". The ladies were backed by a video of memories reminiscing on their growth and experiences both as a Purduette and in their own lives. The song was a very uplifting portion of the concert and helped the Seniors to end on a good note! We will miss the Seniors!
Senior Mindy Brouhard sings a beautiful rendition of the solo in My Life is in Your Hands.
The Purduettes prove their pride for the country they call home in "God Bless America". Amanda Kaye Bills, a Senior and Air Force ROTC student, gives the audience chills in the solo portion of the arrangement.
The Purduettes would like to send a special thanks out to Purdue Varsity Glee Club Assistant Manager Dan Gardiner for all his help with sound during the show. We could not have done it without you.
