Center Stage: Glee Club Spring Break Day 2
Here was the entrance to the wonderful high school of Greeneville which members of Glee Club would pass as they came and went around, touring the town.
Bill Brown, father of Glee Club senior Patrick Brown, greeted the Glee Club and shared some history of Greeneville with the group. Andrew Johnson, the seventeenth President of the United States, was known to live in the town during his life.
All the walking sure does work up an appetite! Lunch was graciously provided for the hungry PVGC by the Asbury United Methodist Church. Check out video of the Glee Club singing "Sold" during lunch on our PMO YouTube Channel.
The tour of the town continued as the Varsity Glee Club broke off into groups to cover more ground. Some were shown the residence of the long-past President Andrew Johnson.
Next in line was a visit to the car museum, where automobiles from every decade were on display for the public.
Another location that was visited was a local museum, where admirable artifacts and play rooms for children could be enjoyed.
The Landair building was also on the list of places to see, and the Glee Club even sang one of the employees “Happy Birthday.”
It seemed that Andrew Johnson had risen from the grave to give one last tour to the national cemetery where he had been buried!
There is no better place to eat than in a ballroom. The PVGC had the luxury of dining in a candlelit room with delicious food.
Dinner concluded and the show soon began. Freshman Justin Heiges serenaded Jane Brown, mother of Glee Club senior and Greeneville native Patrick Brown, in the beautiful Niswonger Performing Arts Center.
As this was Patrick's hometown, it was his turn to present the traditional Glee Club lavaliere to his mother. He sang "My Girl" with the rest of Ba-Na-Na backing him up.
The Glee Club came in for the second half of the show and sang away with energy and the utmost professionalism. After a wonderful visit to Tennessee, the Glee Club enjoyed a police escort out of Greeneville and we were Florida bound! A huge thanks to the family of Glee Club senior Patrick Brown and Scott and Nikki Niswonger as well as the many friends who helped make our visit such a success! We can't wait to come back and see you again!
