Center Stage: PMO and Purdue Bands Collaboration

The Purdue Bands and Purdue Musical Organizations joined for a fall concert at the Long Center in Lafayetee. This marks the first concert in the recent past with the two organizations, breaking a long dry spell of bringing the talents of PMO and Purdue Bands together. Here, a few Purduettes watch the Purdue Concert Band as they warm up.

The members of the Glee Club also gathered before the performance to look upon the band rehearsing.

Prior to the show, the members of the Glee Club and Purduettes gathered for a line up and received instructions and words of encouragement from PMO director, Bill Griffel.

As a part of the Purdue Symphonic Band’s concert, the combined ensembles representing PMO and the band performed two numbers from famous American composer, Aaron Copland; “The Promise of Living” and “Stomp your Foot”.

Both Director of Purdue Bands, Jay Gephart, and Director of PMO, Bill Griffel had the chance to direct one of the two numbers featured in the collaboration. Here Bill directs “The Promise of Living”.

The audience truly enjoyed the combined efforts of both groups and PMO thanks the Purdue Bands for once again reuniting for a concert. We hope to have many more of these in the future!

After the performance, members of the band and of PMO had an opportunity to socialize with each other and with the audience.
