Center Stage: European Tour Day 11
The group starts their first full day in Paris by visiting the famous Montmarte, one of the highest sections of Paris. At the top of this hill sits Sacré-Cœur Basilica, a gorgeous Catholic Church.
The Purduette juniors pose in front of the Paris skyline on Montmarte.
During free time on Montmarte, Dr. Melissa Exum, Chrissy Kvachkoff, Amanda Berggren, and Brittany Cruz eat at a cafe.
While waiting for the bus to pick the gentlemen of the Glee Club up for their rehearsal at Notre-Dame Cathedral, they perform on the sidewalk for pedestrians on Montmarte.
The gentlemen of the Glee Club are taken to a special entrance at the Cathedral by its Director of Sacred Music.
The Glee Club gathers behind the altar where they will be singing from to rehearse and have a final audition for the next day's Sunday International Mass.
After the rehearsal, the gentlemen walk along the river Seine to where a bus will pick them up to meet the rest of the tour group at the Louvre.
While the Glee Club is at Notre-Dame Cathedral the rest of the group heads to the Musée du Louvre. One of the first sights to see is the inverted pyramid, which greets guests before they get to the main foyer.
Junior Kathryn Johnson poses with a statue in the Louvre.
The Glee Club arrives at the Louvre after changing on the bus. Senior Matt Hanauer takes in the beautiful museum, which used to be four palaces along the river Seine.
New men Seth Miller and Grant Nice pose in front of the glass pyramid in the center of the Louvre courtyard.
Jacob Shapiro, Blake Nash, and Mark Spence take time to get a picture in one of the many art halls inside the museum.
Senior Matthew Lancaster looks at a piece in one of the statue halls, which houses both art and historical artifacts from Greek, Roman, and other civilizations.
Kim Van Meter joins the statues for the camera.
Standing in front of the famous Mona Lisa painting, Max Showalter, Nick Miller, and Jake Burris give their best "Mona Lisa" smiles.
Students are given the chance to go back to the hotel or explore Paris on their own. As the sun sets, the Louvre shows its beauty.
Some find a reminder of a little piece of West Lafayette!
At night there is another tour of Paris, showing why it is called the "City of Lights".
Members of Glee Club and Purduettes pose in front of the Eiffel Tower before getting an amazing view from an observation deck on the tower itself!
Steve Schlenk, Lance Connolly, Kim Van Meter, and Ted Arthur pose for a picture on the Eiffel Tower, while the lights of the vast city stretch behind them.
Purduette Senior Leanne Shideler and guests Jennie Jones and Linda Rohrman pose in front of the Palais de Chaillot while on the Eiffel Tower. With beautiful sights from the tower wrapping up this day, the busses take the group back to the hotel.
