Center Stage: Purdue Bells at the PMO Fall Show
Sunday, November 6, 2011
Before the audience arrives, the Purdue Bells move properties upstairs to the sanctuary of University Church for their Fall Show performance.
The Shaker Chimes, which include members Danielle Yu, Erin Myers, and Jenny Jacobs, run through their rendition of Beer Barrel Polka one final time before the show.
Director Michelle Beimfohr leads the Purdue Bells in some new songs, including Synergy and Beach Spring Stomp.
The 4-in-hand quartet, a specialty group within the Bell Choir, plays a worship song called Majesty.
Ringers move around bells to perform “Lollipop, Lollipop” which seems to be a crowd favorite.
Senior Danielle Yu explains how the Shaker Chimes work to the audience. The Shaker Chimes are one of seven sets of such size in the world.
The last Bell specialty group to perform for the evening is the Off-The-Table Quartet, also known as OTT. They played a new song titled “I Spy”, which includes melodies from Axel F, Mission Impossible, and Peter Gunn.
In Old Purdue Tradition, the last song played at the Fall Show is “Hail, Purdue.” Singers and Ringers come together to play the school song while the audience sings along.
