Center Stage: Purduettes at Fairway Cooperative
Wednesday, October 19, 2011
The ladies of the Purduettes were extremely excited for one of their favorite shows of the year – the opportunity to serenade Fairway, the men’s Christian Cooperative at Purdue. Each year, the men of Fairway cook a delicious meal for the ladies before the serenade begins, giving the men and women the chance for fellowship and making new friends.
It is also a tradition for the gentlemen of Fairway to don suits for the serenade. Not only are they one of the warmest crowds the Purduettes have the honor of performing for, but they are also one of the snazziest! Here, the men of Fairway settle into their seats for the show.
The ladies of the Purduettes start the show with a crowd favorite “Brand New You.” Here, the alto section shows off their intense energy in their choreography!
The ladies of the Cowgirls serenaded the men of Fairway with the beloved Alison Krauss tune, “When You Say Nothing at All.”
The Treblemakers stole the show with their new arrangement of “California Dreamin’,” which features senior Marissa Williams on the flute.
After the specialty sets, sophomore Jenna Engelberth sings a solo in the inspirational song “Distance You Have Come.”
To close their set, the ladies of the Purduettes rile up the audience with the feel-good tune “I’ve Got the Music In Me.” The men’s fervent participation in the song gave the ladies an extra burst of energy!
When the Purduettes had finished their set, the men got up to return the favor! Another tradition has become for the new members of Fairway do a little serenading of their own. Here, Pledge Class 2011 sings “Rhythm of Love” by the Plain White T’s.
