Center Stage: Glee Club Fall Break Tour Day 3
Sunday, October 9, 2011
The gentlemen of the Purdue Varsity Glee Club started their final day of the Fall Break Tour at the Hickory Hills Presbyterian Church.
Lighthouse performed while the offering was being passed during the service.
Director, Bill Griffel, sat down to enjoy a great lunch prepared by the kind volunteers of Hickory Hills.
The men unloaded the buses in Frankfort, Illinois, the last stop on the Fall break tour.
Freshmen Ryan Smith, Brandt Smith, and Jake Burris help set up risers in the Lincoln East High School Auditorium.
Frankfort is senior Michael Blakley’s hometown. Assistant Director, Ted Arthur, goes over a few details with him before the show.
Tim Harris, the Manager this year, gave an inspiring speech to the directors and the gentlemen before their final performance.
Freshmen Kyle Ruschhaupt and Ryan Straut perform the run-out song to a couple of audience members who sang along with the gentlemen!
Michael Blakley had a chance to show his family and friends a comedic side as he donned a witch hat and broom in the Wizard of Oz.
The Glee Club has fun selling out during the song “Gary, Indiana” in the “Music Man Medley”.
Sophomore Nick Miller brings the audience through a hilarious tale as the gentlemen perform “Mississippi Squirrel”.
Flashbacks performed fan-favorites such as “Copa Cabana” and a medley of great 80’s songs!
Senior Michael Blakley presented his Glee Club Lavaliere to his mother at Sunday’s performance with an emotional lullaby from his youth.
The Glee Club finished out the Fall Break Tour strong, and headed back to Purdue to enjoy the rest of their October Break!

I had a great time on our fall tour this year. From visiting Chicago to singing for a Bride-to-be, the whole experience was a whirlwind of excitement and song. We were lucky to have a few hours in Chicago to roam the city. This was the first time a good many of my fellow Glee Clubbers had visited Chicago. We performed at three shows and one church service this weekend, and all of them were great venues. It was my first real Glee Club tour, and it was a wonderful three days. I cannot wait for our next performance and of course the Purdue Christmas Show!
In Song,
Drew Kempin
