Center Stage: Glee Club Camp - Day 1
Glee Club camp is up and running for the 2011-2012 academic year! The Tenor 1s were hard at work in the day’s first rehearsal.
The Bass section runs through a new song for the first time.
The guys took to the risers to rehearse some old favorites.
The men then took a lunch break at noon. They joined up with some of the women of the Purduettes.
After lunch, senior Harrison Reiff introduces members of the Tenor 1 section to the group.
Back to work after lunch. We used some rehearsal time to block staging for Strike Up The Band with the New Men incorporated into the lineup.
The guys hit their final pose.
The Sirs for the new year talk about their committees for the New Men to decide which committee they would most like to be on.
Purduette alum Tara Knoop showed up to the evening rehearsal to give the men a refresher on the choreography they were blocking earlier.
Tara demonstrates a move.
Tara’s help was greatly appreciated as the song is once again returning to form. The gentlemen of the Glee Club will be traveling to Camp Tecumseh tomorrow to resume their camp activities for the rest of the week.
Daily Student Perspective
Welcome to the 2011-2012 Purdue Varsity Glee Club! This, my fourth camp, began here on the campus of Purdue. The twenty newmen of the Glee Club were immediately placed on the risers and, along with the returning men, our new group began singing straight away. After a morning of reviewing old music and a chance for the new and old men to get to know each other over lunch, we dove right in to learning five new songs. Look for them to be performed at a show near you soon! Dinner offered the opportunity for the men of the Glee Club and the women of the Purduettes to eat and socialize together as brothers and sisters in song. We rounded out the evening fine tuning one of our biggest crowd-pleasers, 'Strike Up the Band'. Tonight is now a time of rest before we load the buses bright and early tomorrow to continue our week at Camp Tecumseh. It's shaping up to be a fantastic year, and I hope to see you at a show down the road!
