Bailey Hall
After more than 60 years of living in a small space on the side of the Elliott Hall of Music, two long-time PMO fans and supporters, Ralph and Bettye Bailey have pledged more than $4.5 million to assist in building a new home for PMO. Bailey Hall will provide critically needed space in a modern, music education setting that meets the current and anticipated needs of students and staff.
The total estimated cost of the building is $8.182 million. It is with great pleasure we announce we have met Ralph and Bettye Bailey’s challenge to raise $545,500 in cash gifts. Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped us reach our goal!
On Saturday, December 18, 2010 the Purdue University Board of Trustees approved constructing PMO's new home, Ralph and Bettye Bailey Hall. Schmidt Associates of Indianapolis will design the $8 million, 18,000-square-foot facility which will be paid for entirely from gift funds.
Bailey Hall will be located at the southeast corner of Grant Street and Northwestern Avenue in West Lafayette. PMO hopes to be in the building by the spring of 2013.
Our funding plan for the building includes loans from both the University and PMO’s quasi-endowment. Several generous alumni and friends have already committed planned or deferred gifts to assist in repaying these loans down the road. We will continue to accept donations and pledges for the building in the hope of paying those loans off completely. You can help us by making a gift or pledge today.
On Monday, November 15, 2010 PMO hosted a reception in the Elliott Hall of Music to honor the more than 470 donors to Bailey Hall. Check out pictures from the reception.
