Clerical and Service Staff Advisory CommitteeEmployee Satisfaction Survey Questions and Answers
Why is Physical Facilities conducting an employee satisfaction survey? The primary goal of the Employee Satisfaction Survey is to gauge employees' views, attitudes, and perceptions of their department and the Physical Facilities' organization. This information provides insight on what employees believe is the priorities within the organization. Our goal is to:
When will the survey take place? The survey will be administered during the week of October 13-17, 2008. We have selected a reputable human capital management consulting firm based in Chicago by the name of HR Solutions (http://www.hrsolutionsinc.com) to conduct the survey. Why are we using an outside firm? We recognize that ensuring confidentiality of responses is paramount in order to gather your honest and forthright feedback. How do we know our responses will be confidential? By using an outside firm we are hoping to build trust among employees to help increase the truthfulness of responses. There are several ways in which your confidentiality will be protected.
Will the survey be web based or paper? Departments where employees do not normally use a computer on a daily basis, e.g., Building Services, will be using paper copies. The majority of Physical Facilities employees will be responding to the survey via the web; however, employees will be asked their preference for taking the survey. What if I have trouble reading and writing English? You need to make your supervisor aware that you will need a translator to read the survey to you. We want to ensure that we are gathering information from each of our diverse workforce members. What if I am on vacation or sick during the week of October 13-October 17? Contact PFHR so that the necessary arrangements can be made in order for you to participate. Will I be in paid status when I take the survey? Yes. How do I know that my feedback has not been hidden or ignored? All employees will be invited to attend a focus group conducted by an HR Solutions consultant. These sessions normally occur approximately four to five weeks after the survey administration ends. The sessions will be used to clarify survey responses, as well as tell you how your department compares to the total organization. These focus groups will also afford employees an opportunity to share additional opinions about all of the subjects measured by the survey. Employees and supervisors will be asked to attend separate sessions in order for employees to be assured of complete confidentiality. Will I be in paid status when I attend the focus group? Yes. Employees will not be required to participate, but we want to afford all employees an opportunity to voice their opinion on a wide range of work related issues. We want to know if Physical Facilities' work climate treats all of our employees with dignity, courtesy and respect. What will Physical Facilities administration do with the results? Survey and focus group results will be shared with employees and plans of action will be developed. How will these action plans be communicated and implemented? These plans for action and timelines for implementation will be shared with employees by their Senior Directors, Directors and/or supervisors, and in the QSP Report . When can I expect to see changes made, based on this survey? As you can imagine, a survey of more than 1,300 people, including focus groups, will take several months to complete. Status information of the process will be shared through Senior Directors, Directors and/or supervisors, and in the QSP Report and other communications. We recognize that finding out what really matters to our employees is not an incidental undertaking. Senior management is committed to this process, and to providing information as we move forward together. |
