Schedule:

• Construction phase: January 7 to April 18, 2008

Milestones:

• Feb. 27: Conduit is being installed in the tunnel and the existing transformers hae been removed. The new tranformer and concrete pads have been installed. In the next two weeks, steel will be installed in the tunnel, the vault will be painted, and conduit feeders will be installed. The project is proceeding on schedule at this time.
• March 19: Crews are working to complete the secondary conduit installation and pulling the primary feeders. Switch gear is expected to be delivered in the next two weeks.
• March 26: The primary feeders have been pulled, and an HVAC unit will be demolished. The switch gear has arrived and will be installed. Medium voltage cables will be terminated and tested.
• April 9: Work is nearly complete. Secondary cables are being terminated, and the lighting and grounding in the vault are being finished. The new transformers are in place and will be heated up beginning next week, and loads will be switched over to the new equipment. The project is expected to be completed by April 18 as scheduled.
• April 17: The electricity at MGL will be shut down in stages beginning this afternoon and continuing tomorrow as crews power switch over to the new high voltage transformers in the vault. Some systems will be shut down beginning at 3 p.m. today, with more starting at 5:30 p.m. Lighting is expected to be back on by 6:30 or 7 p.m. The 480-vault power will be down tomorrow.
