Schedule | Milestones | Photos

Schedule:

  • Bid date: October 12, 2006
  • Board of Trustees meeting: November 10, 2006
  • Construction phase: January 22 to April 27, 2007

 Stone Hall

Milestones:

  • Construction will take place around the vault, which is located next to the handicapped-accessible entrance on the east site of Matthews Hall. This entrance will remain available throughout the project.
  • The delivery drive on the east side of Matthews will be accessible. Brief closures may be necessary on a few occassions.
  • January 16: The mobile substations have been set in place on the State St. side of Stone Hall.
  • January 21: An electrical shutdown will begin at 8:30 a.m. This shutdown will include the feeder that affects Stanley Coulter, Class of 1950, and Peirce Halls as well as Matthews. SC, CL50, and PRCE will have power restored in approximately 45 minutes. The MTHW shutdown will last 3-4 hours. During the shutdown, crews will connect MTHW to the mobile substations. COMPLETE.
  • January 25: See exterior photos below.
  • February 1: The vault top has been taken off, and the old equipment removed from the vault. Existing feeder conduit has been removed, and crews are working to replace it. The new vault top will be poured soon.
  • February 27: Work is proceeding on schedule despite last week's snow. In the next week or two, the concrete pads will be poured in the vault. Then the new transformers and switches can be set in place. New conduit will be installed this week, and cable can then be pulled. When these steps have been completed, the removable vault top will be poured. See photos below.
  • March 13: Work is nearing completion. The new electrical equipment has been set, the cable has been pulled, and the concrete housekeeping pads have been poured.
  • March 27: Electrical testing is done. The concrete vault top will be poured soon. Once that and a few other remaining tasks are complete, the electrical shut-down will be scheduled to switch over to the new transformers.
  • April 10: The concrete top has been poured. A ladder must be installed inside the vault, and that is on order. Clean-up work is nearly complete.
SHUTDOWN: An electrical shutdown is scheduled for Thursday, April 19 beginning at 5 a.m. to connect the new transformers to the permanent power supply. This shutdown is expected to take two hours. COMPLETE.
  • April 24: Construction is complete. Fencing will be taken down in the next few days.
