Location
Purdue University 's central campus is located in West Lafayette, Indiana,
across the Wabash River from Lafayette. The population of the twin cities,
not including Purdue students, exceeds 70,000. Lafayette-West Lafayette is
65 miles northwest of Indianapolis, the state capital, and 126 miles southeast
of Chicago. You can reach Purdue by U.S. highways 52 and 231, interstate 65,

Construction

Transportation
Major bus lines and Amtrak trains make scheduled stops in Lafayette. Car rentals
can be made at the Purdue Airport and other locations in the Lafayette area.

Welcome to Purdue campus maps and the Accessibility Guide for individuals with disabilities are available free of charge in Hovde Hall, the Memorial Union, the Purdue Airport, and both Visitor Information Center locations. A self-guided tour brochure, designed for visitors who have an hour or so to see points of interest within a short distance of the Memorial Union, is also available.

The staff of the main Visitor Information Center, located at 504 Northwestern Avenue, welcomes visitors to campus and provides information about Purdue, the community, and the state. With prior arrangements, guided historical tours of the main campus are given to alumni, graduate students, and the general public, Monday through Saturday. All undergraduate tours are handled through the Office of Admissions. A reservation must be made in advance by calling Admissions at (765) 494-1776. The center is open weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. During the summer, the center is closed.
The Visitor Information Center @ PMU is located in the east main lounge adjacent to the Great Hall of the Memorial Union, across from the Grant Street Parking Garage. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visitors may park in the following areas unless the areas are posted otherwise: 1) The Grant Street Visitor Parking Garage for an hourly fee; 2) staff and visitor parking meters (meter fees must be paid and time limits observed); 3) at the residence halls, after purchasing a visitor permit from the office; and 4) most locations on campus after 5 p.m. weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday. Please observe special postings before you park. Those needing special parking arrangements can make them with Parking Facilities. The office is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Where to Eat
When you're visiting Purdue, you will find a wide selection of restaurants. On campus, the Memorial Union, residence hall dining courts, and Stone Hall offer excellent dining options. If your son or daughter lives in a residence hall, he or she can use meal contract dining dollars, a BoilerExpress debit account, or cash to purchase residence hall meal tickets for guests.
