Housing contract renewal for current residents opens November 4

Last year 44.9% of our residents decided to return to University Residences for another year. Evidence clearly indicates that students living on campus are more successful academically, more involved with student activities, have more leadership opportunities, and graduate sooner than their off-campus peers.

Current residents will have an opportunity to select where they will be living on campus  for the 2016-17 academic year beginning November 4, 2015 at noon.  The renewal period will run until February 29, 2016 in five phases.  The first phase will be for students to return to the same room they live in this year.  Subsequent phases are for selecting a different room and are prioritized by current academic classification: seniors (beginning Nov 12), juniors (Nov 16), sophomores (Nov 19), freshmen (Dec 1).

Some residents will be displaced from their current room due to that space being unavailable.  This could be due to space repurposing, renovations, or reconfiguration.  These displaced students will receive the priority of a junior even if they are sophomores or freshmen.  While many resident chose to remain in the same room, there are many "move-up options" for your student to consider--Hawkins Hall has no freshmen, Hilltop Apartments has 2 or 3 person on-campus apartments.  Meal plans are optional at both Hawkins and Hilltop.  Cary East, Northeast, Northwest, or West are suite-style rooms, as are Hillenbrand and Third Street Suites.  In a suite or semi-suite, four residents in two bedrooms share a bathroom between them.  Single rooms with private baths are available in First Street Towers, and various singles are available in other buildings. In addition, the new Honors College and Residence will open for Fall 2016.

More information about housing options is available at www.housing.purdue.edu.  Resident Assistants will also be able to help students navigate housing choices.  Student can make changes to their selections until February 29, 2016, when the contract renewal period ends and the contract becomes binding.
