Academic Success Center- Preparing for Finals
The end of the semester is quickly approaching. For most students, this means lots of exams, projects, papers, and finals all due around the same time. This often brings in new challenges and stressors as students navigate how to manage their time, set priorities, and study effectively. If your student talks to you about feeling stressed about his/her academics, you can encourage him/her to utilize some of the resources offered by the Academic Success Center (ASC).
“The Final Countdown: Getting Ready for Finals”
Tuesday, November 17 | 5:00-6:00 PM | Jade Room, Shreve Hall C127 (Near UR Support Center)
Wednesday, November 18 | 5:00-6:00 PM | Jade Room, Shreve Hall C127 (Near UR Support Center)
The workshop focuses on strategies and tips to help college students feel informed, prepared, and as stress-free as possible during the last few weeks of the semester.
Academic Consultations & Coaching
If your student isn’t able to attend the workshop or would prefer working individually with a staff member, the ASC offers academic consultations and coaching sessions. Students can walk-in or set up an appointment to work with a professional staff member or a peer success coach. In the session, your student and the staff member will discuss academic strategies (study, test-taking and time management strategies, etc.) and co-create plans to strengthen those skills. http://www.purdue.edu/studentsuccess/academic/consultation/index.html
Finding Tutoring & Academic Support Resources
The ASC hosts the centralized site to find all of the tutoring and academic support resources across campus, www.purdue.edu/tutoring. Many of the resources are FREE for students to use! Look through the list of help rooms and tutoring programs, OR find resources that support a specific course using the search feature. Encourage your student to visit these resources early rather than waiting until the week before finals.
For more information about any of these resources, visit www.purdue.edu/asc , email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 765-494-9328. The Academic Success Center is located on the 4th floor of Krach Leadership Center.
