Boiler Gold Rush International
Sending your child off to college can be an emotional event. Visiting campus and attending STAR (Summer Transition, Advising and Registration) with your student can help make that final farewell at BGR (Boiler Gold Rush) just a little bit easier. But imagine sending your child off to college in another country! Luckily, Purdue University seeks to decrease the stress and anxiety for international parents bringing their students to West Lafayette from overseas. Parents who accompany their students to BGRi can participate in the international parents' orientation, since they did not get the benefit of a campus visit during STAR.
International parents will have the opportunity to tour campus and the Greater Lafayette area, meet advisors from various schools and departments, and hear from Purdue staff regarding a multitude of topics: campus safety, student health and counseling and psychological services, leadership development opportunities, maintaining visa status, residence life, and student success. After attending the orientation, parents can say goodbye to their children with peace of mind and return to their home countries with first-hand understanding of the wonderful, challenging and exciting Purdue life on which their students are embarking.
