Family Weekend- FAQs

  • When did Family Weekend Registration Open and how were families notified?
    • Registration for 2017 Family Weekend opened at 10:00 a.m., EDT, Wednesday, August 30, 2017. An email was sent to families subscribed to our monthly newsletter and posts were made to our Facebook page. Information was also posted to the front page of the Parent & Family Connections website.
  • How do I purchase football tickets, what is the cost and when can I buy them?
    • Regular tickets can be purchased by visiting the Athletics website.
    • Discounted tickets can be purhcased for $20/each in our North end zone and Value areas by using this link with the Promo code, FAMILY17
    • 2017 mini-plan information can be found on the Athletics website.
    • Tickets can be purchased on game day at the ticket office in Mackey Arena. The ticket office will open three hours before kickoff and stay open through halftime.
    • Please note- if you want your student to sit with you for the game, tickets will need to be purchased at the same time and your student will not be sitting in the student section
  • What time does the football game start?
    • DUE TO T.V. TIMES, KICK-OFF IS TBA. KICK-OFF WILL BE ANNOUNCED 6-12 DAYS BEFORE THE FAMILY WEEKEND FOOTBALL GAME VS. ILLINOIS.
  • What time zone is West Lafayette on?
    • West Lafayette, Indiana is on Eastern Daylight Time *Note- Daylight Savings Time ends on Sunday, November 5.
  • What should I wear?
    • Dress for the entire day is casual (typically any Purdue clothing is suitable). The weather varies anywhere from 30 degrees to 60 degrees, so please check the forecast.
  • Where can I find information about hotel availability?
    • The Greater Lafayette Convention and Visitors Bureau maintain a referral list of available space at area lodging facilities for major weekends in the community. Visit their website or call (800)-872-6648 or (765)-447-9999.
  • Where can I park on campus?
  • Where can I find the menus for the special meals offered?
    • Menus for the "A Formal Affair" Dinner, the Boilermaker BBQ, and the Family Weekend Brunch can be found on our website.
  • Are waitlists available for events?
    • Yes, events that traditionally reach capacity quickly will have a waitlist you can add yourself to. If you place yourself on a waitlist for an event currently at capacity and space opens, you will receive an email from confirmation@attend.com notifying you of the opening, with a link good for 48 hours to secure the space. If you have not secured your space in the given time frame, it will move to the next person on the waitlist. If you are on a waitlist, be sure to watch your inbox from an email from confirmation@attend.com.
  • Where can I park to tailgate?
  • Where do I pick up tickets for paid events?
    • Famiy Weekend Check-in will take place Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of Purdue Memorial Union.
  • Do I have to check-in if I am not attending any preregistered events?
    • All families are encouraged to visit Family Weekend Check-In to receie a full schedule of events, a personalised printout of registrations, and receive answers to questions about Family Weekend.
  • Can I pick up Dining Court Brunch Tickets on Sunday?
    • If you miss Family Weekend Check-In and have prepaid for brunch at the Dining Courts, Parent & Family Connections will be at Earhart Dining Court from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
  • Do all events require preregistration?
    • While a number of events require preregistration, our Family Weekend is full of fun events that does not require any preregistration. For the full listing of events, click here.
