The Stock Market Game
The Stock Market Game (SMG) is a popular curriculum used in many schools. Students invest an imaginary $100,000 in stocks and mutual funds over a ten week period. Modest prizes are awarded to schools/teams who have the highest portfolio value. The program runs primarily in the fall and spring, but there are other training windows. Each year about 18,000 students are involved. Research has shown that participation in SMG increases understanding in basic economics and personal finance.
