Learning
Communities
The Explorers
Learning Community, created especially for first-year
students in the Undergraduate Studies Proram, offers courses
and activities outside the classroom that will help you in
your quest to find the right major at Purdue. You'll even
take your exploratory careers course with your advisor —
a great way to evaluate different career options!
Benefits
Attend two to three classes with the same small group
of students
Live in the same University residence (Owen Hall) as your
community members (if you choose the residence option)
Get involved, meet people, and make friends
Attend out-of-class programs and go on exciting trips
Learn about the helpful resources that are available to
you at Purdue
Become involved in the local community
Boost your chances of academic success
Get to know your professors and classmates
Create lasting friendships
Broaden your learning experience
Research results
at Purdue and programs across the United States show that
students who take part in learning communities earn higher
grades, make friends faster, and graduate at higher or faster
rates than students who don't participate in learning communities.
