Transfer Credit

The process of receiving transfer credit for courses taken at campuses other than Purdue - West Lafayette is different depending on the campus.

Taking Courses at Purdue Regional Campuses

Taking Courses at Other Colleges and Universities

For more information about transferring credit to Purdue, contact the Credit Evaluation Office at (765) 494-6482.

Taking Courses at Purdue Regional Campuses

If you take a course at one of the Purdue regional campuses (i.e., Purdue Calumet, Purdue North Central, IPFW, IUPUI or IUPU Columbus), both the credit and the grade automatically transfer to Purdue - West Lafayette.

Courses at the regional campuses may have different 'names' & 'numbers' from courses at West Lafayette.  To find out which courses are equivalent from campus to campus view the Equivalent List maintained by the Office of the Registrar (PDF file).

Each spring representatives from some of the regional campuses travel to West Lafayette to register students for summer classes at their respective campus. The Registrar's office has published a list of the dates and times the different campuses will visit (PDF file).

Taking Courses at Other Colleges and Universities

If you take a course at a college or university other than Purdue (or one of the Purdue regional campuses), only the credit can transfer to Purdue (and not the grade). In order for the credit to transfer there are four requirements that need to be met:

  1. The school must be regionally accredited.
  2. You must be registered at Purdue for transfer credit to be added to your record.
  3. You must have earned a grade of "C" or better in the course or courses you took.
  4. An official transcript from the school's registrar's office showing the course(s) and grade(s) must be received by Purdue. The address the transcript should be sent to is:

    Office of Admissions
    Purdue University
    1080 Schleman Hall, Room 108
    475 Stadium Mall Drive
    West Lafayette, IN 47907

IMPORTANT!! Before taking a course(s) at another college or university you should complete a "Transfer Credit Evaluation Form" (CTR Form 5) and submit it to the Credit Evaluation Office in Room 108 of Schleman Hall of Student Services. The staff of the Credit Evaluation Office will evaluate the course(s) you are considering taking at the other school and let you know:

a) if the course credit will transfer to Purdue; and

b) how it will appear on your Purdue academic record.
