Foreign Language Placement

Students who want to take a foreign language class at Purdue must first take Purdue's placement test in that language if they have had two or more years of the language in high school.

Placement tests in Spanish, French, German, Latin, Russian and Japanese will be given at 6:00 pm in Stanley Coulter Hall, Room 231 on the following dates:

Wednesday, August 20

Thursday, August 21

Friday, August 22

Monday, August 25

 

The Chinese Placement Exam is generally given early each semester. Contact Professor Daniel Hsieh (dhsieh@purdue.edu) for more information.

 

The Placement Exam for Spanish for Heritage Language Speakers (SHLS) is generally given several times during each semester. Contact Prof. Sonia V. González (songonza@purdue.edu) for more information.

 
NOTE: Students must bring a Photo ID and a completed Placement Exam Authorization Form 231 (signed by an academic advisor) in order to take the placement test. The forms are available in the USP office in Young Hall, 8th floor.
