Re: University Development Office
Effective September 1, 1972, the following appointments are made
in the University Development Office:
Stanley E. Hall, Vice President, Purdue Research Foundation, and
Director of Development, Purdue University
Richard P. Thornton, Associate Director of Development
Jim L. Clapper, Assistant Director of Development
Under the direct supervision of the President of the University,
the Director of Development shall be responsible for planning and
coordinating all fund raising from non-governmental sources for
Purdue University.
The Director of Development shall work with the Provost in coordinating
all fund raising matters related to academic affairs, research,
and student affairs, and with the Vice President and Treasurer in
all of the aspects of fund raising which bear upon the financial
and legal management of the University.
In order to assure orderly operation and to maximize effectiveness,
all efforts of fund raising from nongovernmental sources shall be
coordinated with the Director of Development. Administrators, faculty
and staff members engaging in such efforts will discuss the matter
with the Director of Development prior to making proposals of seeking
support from non-governmental sources.
The University Development Office and the Division of Sponsored
Programs will maintain close communication and coordinate their
programs where appropriate.
In addition, the Director of Development shall supervise and have
responsibility for:
- The University News Service
- Office of the University Editor
(These assignments supersede Executive Memorandum No. B-2
in which responsibility for these offices was assigned to the
Executive Assistant to the President).
