About Policies
Purdue University Policy Project
Background:

Until May 2002, Purdue University policies were organized chronologically, by issuer (such as the Office of the President or the Vice President for Business Services) and by series (A Series, B Series, etc.). Although many were electronically accessible, they were not searchable by keywords nor organized by subject areas.

Project Goals:

  1. To establish a standardized format and reference system for Purdue University policies in order to make them easier to read and locate for users.
  2. To create a user-friendly Web site that provides quick and easy access to all University policies for the entire Purdue community and to disseminate news and information about Purdue policies.

Project Status (as of May 2002):
After extensive benchmarking and careful consideration, we have created:

  1. A standardized format in which all Purdue policies will be written.
  2. A reference and numbering system that organizes University polices by subject matter.
  3. A Web site that makes University policies accessible and easy to find.

Next Steps:

  1. All new policies will be issued in the new, standard format and under the new reference/numbering system.
  2. Old policies will be reviewed and updated in content (where needed) and format.
