Distinguished Professorships
Purdue University recognizes members of the faculty
whose academic contributions in teaching and research
are among the nation's finest. Distinguished professors
receive this recognition following a detailed peer review
process. In 1959 the Board of Directors of the Purdue
Research Foundation made it possible for distinguished
professors to receive a stipend in addition to their
regular salary. Many of these professorships are named
after Purdue benefactors or other outstanding individuals.
