Agricultural Communication Service is an important link between Purdue agriculture and the public at county, state, and national levels.
The department uses a variety of media, including publications, videotapes, exhibits, graphic design, photography, mass media, CD-ROM, Web sites, and distance learning technology.
Approximately 2,200 educational publications are available
from the Purdue Agriculture Media Distribution Center,
(888) EXT-INFO, or through the online Purdue Extension
Education store at www.ces.purdue.edu/new.
Agricultural Communication Service is also one of three
University offices officially allowed to send out news
releases and other materials for the media. The department
concentrates on the public understanding of science,
agricultural production, consumer information, and the
promotion of the Purdue Agriculture and the Purdue University
Cooperative Extension Service. The department also publishes
Connections for agricultural alumni, Purdue
Agriculture Reports, an e-mail newsletter for business and civic
leaders, and Agricultures, a general interest magazine
for people interested in the application of research
and education to issues and interests in life science,
agriculture, and natural resources.
