Welcome to myPurdue News This is the first issue of myPurdue News, the e-newsletter that is replacing ESAnews. During OnePurdue’s Enrollment and Student Affairs (ESA) implementation, ESAnews brought you important updates about the project. Now that the remaining Banner software modules are being released, the team is transitioning into a post-go-live, support phase, which will emphasize improving the new student systems and assisting the many thousands at Purdue who use them. This newsletter will continue to deliver the latest news and information about the systems, though focus more on what most of you use on a day-to-day basis: the myPurdue portal and its functions. Whether it’s a faculty member downloading class schedules, a student checking his or her financial aid status, or an academic advisor (or other staff member) assisting a student, myPurdue News will help you get the most out of Banner and its features. Online spring 2009 registration underway at WL Class registration for the spring 2009 semester became available online to West Lafayette students Oct. 30, and will continue through November. Registration will be open to all students beginning December 4. More New advising tool requires special Banner role, training A new “role” has been created that will allow access to a Banner module being released in October for advisors, in addition to other information. “RegProfile 44 — INB Advisor WL” (Role 44) will be assigned to academic advisors and degree candidate coordinators who currently have only SSB (Self-Service Banner) access to the new student systems so they can use Curriculum, Advising and Program Planning (CAPP), a new Banner component that will help advisors track students’ progress toward their degrees. More Online grade entry for fall semester begins Dec. 15 An important part of the new student systems will make its debut this fall when faculty members begin entering final grades online. Instead of the old paper forms, the faculty will now submit their grades using the myPurdue portal from anywhere they have a computer and Internet connection. For the first time, it also will be possible to assign plus and minus grades. More New procedures for dropping, adding classes online As part of the Banner applications released in July, West Lafayette Purdue students can drop and add classes on the Web using the myPurdue portal. New online drop and add procedures (for a 16-week semester) are outlined below. More |
