The ODOS Testing Center enforces test sponsor regulations to ensure the integrity of all tests and the safety of our students. The following rules apply:
Please have your ID(s) ready when you arrive to test! Please review the rules regarding identification for your particular exam. You may be required to have multiple IDs or a certain type of ID. If you do not have valid, acceptable identification, you will not be allowed to test!
This includes coats/jackets, vests, hoodies, and other sweatshirts/sweaters with pockets or hoods.
No hats or other head coverings
Unless worn as a religious requirement.
No electronic devices
This includes cell phones, laptops, tablets, music players, headphones, recording devices, electronic storage devices, translators, and any other non-medical electronic device.
Calculators are allowed for some exams, but may be subject to approval. Please review the rules and restrictions for your particular exam.
No writing utensils
If necessary, writing utensils will be provided.
(Exception: students taking August or January chemistry advanced credit exams in a lecture hall should provide their own #2 pencils.)
No reference materials or papers of any kind
Textbooks, notes, pamphlets, etc. are not allowed. If necessary, scratch paper or note taking materials will be provided.
No food, beverages, or tobacco products
You may bring food and drinks to the Testing Center, but they may only be accessed during breaks, outside of the testing room. Smoke breaks are subject to the availability and discretion of Testing Center Administrators.
Storing Personal Items
You will be required to empty your pockets and store all personal items, including electronics, watches, jewelry, wallets, keys, and cell phones, in the provided lockers. You will be allowed to take the locker key with you into the testing room, and your items will be secure. If you still would not feel comfortable storing certain personal items in a locker, please do not bring those items with you to the Testing Center.
Some test vendors may allow certain “comfort aid” items. Please review rules and restrictions for your particular exam.
FE/FS testers: please note that the NCEES allowance of a “light sweater or jacket” still does not include any outerwear item with a hood or pockets.
Allowable items may be subject to inspection by Testing Center Administrators.
Purdue University standards of academic integrity apply in the Testing Center. For more information, please refer to the Academic Integrity Brochure provided by the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR).
We do our best to keep the testing room at a comfortable temperature, but it can be cool. You may wish to wear long sleeves. Again, we cannot allow any outerwear to be worn in the testing room. If you are unable to store your outerwear in a locker (ie: wearing a hoodie or other sweatshirt/sweater with pockets or a hood without another shirt under it) you will be asked to reschedule your exam.
The testing room is a confined space. Please be considerate in your use of fragrance and refrain from applying or using cologne, perfume, hairsprays, air fresheners, or similar products in the Testing Center, as the use of such products may trigger allergic reactions and create health problems.
