Span Plan Adult Student Services

Cecelia Zissis Graduate Student Grant

Application Deadline February 15

Grant Amount $1000 or more

  • Be in good academic standing
  • Part-time graduate/professional student (3-7 credit hours)
  • Be admitted to a degree seeking Purdue, West Lafayette graduate program
  • Scholarship essay*
  • Letters of recommendation**
  • Complete FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to evaluate level of financial need.

*Personal Essay

Type your responses to the following in a Word document to save and attach to the application.

Section 1.  List the courses you plan to take the next academic year, both Fall and Spring semesters.  Include the course number and title for each.

Section 2.  Please share with the committee why you believe you are a strong candidate for the Cecelia Zissis Graduate Student Grant.  Please include your academic success & potential, financial need, and educational & career plans.  Please limit this section of the essay to 500 words.   

**Letters of Recommendation 

Please provide two letters of recommendation.  Possible sources are:  professors, instructors, teaching assistants, pastor, volunteer coordinator, and current or former employer.  Letters of recommendation should be created as a Microsoft Word document and emailed directly to odosscholarships@purdue.edu by the author.  Please have the author write Cecelia Zissis Graduate Student Grant written in the subject line.  Click here for a sample email that you can send to your reference.  Letters must be received by the application deadline.
