Suicide is a tragedy that affects us deeply. Purdue University students may lose family or close friends, roommates, or classmates to suicide. This manner of death is especially difficult. It leaves us asking questions about why; about what, if anything, could have been done to prevent it; leaves survivors with feelings of guilt (I should have seen it coming); and some times with feelings of embarrassment or shame. This fall a new group will be offered for survivors of Suicide. Through support and education, members can help one another heal and understand their feelings relating to their loss. The group will be held weekly at a time to be determined, in Schleman Hall, room 277. It will be free and open to students who have lost someone to suicide. For more information, contact Lou Ann Hamilton, at 494-1252, or lahamilton@purdue.edu.
The Office of the Dean of Students also offers Grief Group counseling.
