CARE Programs

CARE Overview (15-30 minutes)

This presentation provides a brief overview of services available at CARE. We discuss how survivors of sexual violence, dating violence, and stalking can access the confidential support and advocacy from CARE. We also provide an opportunity to answer any questions.

Sexual Violence 10100 (60-90 minutes)

Examples of sexual violence surround us daily. We see it in advertisements, hear it in songs, and see it in behavior. We experience so many examples that oftentimes we do not address them, which can be harmful to our community at Purdue. Facilitated by trained peer educators, this interactive program begins the conversation about how society normalizes sexual violence. This program outlines examples of sexual violence, discusses healthy sexuality and consent, and offers strategies for making Purdue a safe community.

SOS Training: Supporting Our Survivors (60-90 minutes)

A student in your class. A member of your student organization. Possibly your friend's roommate. Any of these individuals could be a survivor of sexual violence. Helpful for students and staff alike, this training focuses on how to recognize and support survivors of sexual violence. Participants will learn how to refer a friend or student to CARE to receive appropriate support and services. This training addresses how Title IX Mandatory Reporters can support survivors and refer to CARE, while fulfilling their reporting responsibilities. Consider signing up for a training today!

Boilers Stand Up! Bystander Intervention (90 minutes)

This 90 minute, interactive session will provide audience members with tools to recognize potentially dangerous situations and safely and effectively intervene to prevent sexual violence on our campus. Participants learn more from this program after attending Sexual Violence 10100, but that is not a pre-requisite.

Note: A brief version of the CARE Overview is included in every program.
