Caregiver Companion

In our  Legacy department, volunteers can assist dementia residents with one on one visiting, reading, helping with art, crafts or daily activities.

Be a resident visitor, nursing unit volunteer, wheel chair transporters, veteran history interviewer, or a computer lab assistant (the computer lab is entirely staffed by volunteers - volunteers help residents with basic computer procedures).. Volunteers are also needed to help with delivery of meal trays and to help with general office tasks (in the volunteer office).

Ombudsman Program (Indiana Legal Services)

Advocate for the right's and safety of senior citizens by volunteering to be a Resident Visitor. Visit and observe long term care facilities and prepare reports. Hours are flexible. A 4 hours per month commitment is required. Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age, have reliable transportation, and have a valid driver's license. Training is provided.

Interact one-on-one with residents by visiting, reading, or doing arts and crafts with them. Volunteers can also help with other social activities such as Bingo and musical programs. Opportunities are available any day of the week, 8 am to 8 pm. Volunteers must be 16 or older and have a TB test completed.
