American Red Cross

Volunteers are needed to be Disaster Response Members who help in a variety of ways in the event of a disaster. Also, volunteers can help by becoming Armed Forces Emergency Case Workers.

Become a mentor to a troubled youth (12-17 years old) in the Juvenile Alternatives Mentoring Program. Mist be 21 or older. Hours are flexible. Training is provided. Mentors will be matched up with participants based on common interests.

Crisis Center

If you are at least 18 years old you can help people in crisis. Lend a caring and empathetic ear to others by answering the Crisis Phone Line. Forty-five hours of intensive training in required and a one-year commitment is requested. Training is offered four times each year. Applications are available here.

Habitat for Humanity

Serve as a liaison between a family and Habitat to ensure that the family understands the requirements of becoming a Habitat homeowner.

Matrix Lifeline Pregnancy Center

Offers free pregnancy tests, life-affirming options for those facing difficult pregnancy decisions, and support services for pregnant women and for families with young children. Volunteers are needed for pregnancy testing and consulting, to assist clients in the clothing room, to serve as administrative/office help and to assist with fund-raising events.

Mediation Services

Volunteer mediators help people solve conflicts and learn dispute resolution skills. Training is provided and a one year commitment is asked. You can also assist with fundraising, promotion, and office work.

Mental Health America of Tippecanoe County

Would you like to make a difference in a life? Do you have one hour a week to help someone? Be friends with an individual recovering from a mental illness. Friends go to free or low cost activities together, all the while building friendship. Training and on-going support is provided.

Ombudsman Program - Indiana Legal Services

Visit and observe long-term care facilities across an eight county area. Prepare reports on your findings. Individuals interested in residents' rights are encouraged to apply. Hours are flexible. Volunteers must be 21 or older, have reliable transportation, and a valid driver's license.

SURF Club

Help answer the crisis line, perform administrative task and delegate activities to meeting members once a week for a four or eight-hour shift. Must be compassionate, non-judgmental and empathetic.

Tippecanoe CASA

Court Appointed Special Advocates are court appointed volunteers who represent the interests of allegedly abused or neglected children. They investigate the facts of the case, recommend a course of action, and monitor progress toward established goals while the case is under the jurisdiction of the court. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old. Training is provided and a one-year commitment is required. Volunteers with the ability to speak Spanish are especially needed.

Volunteer opportunities are available working with wonderful people needing encouragement. Trinity Mission Outlet store needs help stocking and clerking. Special projects are available for small groups and people with limited time.

Volunteers in Probation

Volunteers for the Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Program (DVIPP) at the YWCA. Answer telephones for the crisis line, pick up donations form the various places, help women move into new apartments, do yard work, painting, cleaning, or help with childcare.
