Getting Involved

You can best get involved by coming down to our office (Stewart Center G4) and filling out a volunteer form or calling us at (765) 496-2450.

If you know you want to get involved, but don't know where to begin, start by pondering the following suggestions and answering the following questions:

  1. What needs concern me most?
Brainstorm issues that really make you want to take action and change them.
  2. What skills do I have?
What special training/education/passion can I bring to the job?
  3. How much time can I give?
  4. What do I want to get from volunteering?
Training, academic credit, personal satisfaction, an insider's view into a possible career choice, etc.
  5. What if I'm not sure what I want to do?

(from the GLVB Guide to Volunteer Opportunities, 1999)

Another way is to join the Community Service Roundtable. It's for student leaders who are interested in sharing volunteer experiences, including planning, fund-raising, etc. The hope here is to have all service organizations (or a least a good majority) represented and connected.
