What

The Fall Harvest Food Drive is campus tradition that supplies over 20,000 pounds of food for hungry families.

Awards are given to the individuals and groups that collect the most food in the following categories:
Fraternity/Sorority/Cooperative; Student Organization; University Department/Unit; Residence Hall; and Individual.

  Season of Sharing
When November 7 - December 19, 2011
What

Help make the Winter holidays a little brighter for local low-income families.

The Boiler Volunteer Network partners with the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Community and Family Resource Center, and the YWCA Domestic Violence Shelter to provide gifts and clothing to children from low-income families.

Come to our office (Stewart Center, Room G-4) and select an ornament which provides a local child's name, gender, age, and a gift idea.

Enjoy shopping for a gift and then bring the unwrapped gift back to the Boiler Volunteer Network. It will go to a deserving family who will wrap it and give it to their child.

Whether you spend a little or a little more, the important thing is to share. It is a great way to make the winter holiday season brighter for you too; last year 298 children were helped by Purdue students, faculty, and staff.

The volunteer projects will be posted under the link "sign-up now" beginning January 3rd.

  Boiler Blast
When Early April 2012 (date to be announced)
What

Purdue's largest student-run single day community service event.

Join more than 1200 of your fellow Boilermakers in saying thank you to the West Lafayette community.
Boiler Blast organizes teams of students to go out into the neighborhoods to do volunteer projects for local residents.

Typical tasks include: yard work; taking down storm windows and putting up screens; painting; spring cleaning; or organizing the garage.

You can also be involved in the planning process by joining the committee for this event (watch for the call-out announcement). Planning starts in August for the event in April. It is a big job and we can always use more help!

  Project Move Out
When May 4 - 6, 2012
What

At the end of the school year, you are certain to have things that you don't want to pack up and take home. If you don't want it (and it is still in usable condition) don't throw it away, give it us (at the Purdue Armory) and we'll pass it along to low-income families who can benefit for it.

Clothing, fans, microwaves, furniture, futons, mini-refrigerators, small electronics and appliances, food, school supplies, toys, unopened hygiene items, bikes, and just about anything else can all be donated.

As long as it is still in useable condition, we appreciate your donation. It makes reusing and recycling easy!
