Purdue to use new roommate matching application
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University Housing and Food Services announced the use of the service RoomSync, a Facebook application that allows students to select their own roommate.
RoomSync is recommended for new students planning to live in the residence halls who have yet to select a roommate for the 2012-2013 academic year. The application aims to improve the quality of life for students by assisting them with their roommate search. It is designed to pair students of similar interests who would be compatible together.
Through RoomSync, students log in through Facebook and are presented with a number of other individuals who are also looking for roommates in the Purdue network.
RoomSync was created in 2007 after Robert Castellucci, current RoomSync vice president of marketing, saw the need to increase student success by reducing roommate conflict through allowing students to choose their own roommate.
To access the application, students will be required to enter a unique pass code provided via email to their Purdue email address by University Residences once they have signed a contract for housing.
