Purdue Research Foundation receives 5 international awards

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Research Foundation received five MarCom awards from the Association of Marketing & Communication Professionals in categories including annual report writing and design, billboard creation and speechwriting.

Joseph B. Hornett, senior vice president, COO and treasurer of the Purdue Research Foundation, said growth in the foundation, Purdue Research Park network and park-based companies serves as a strong foundation for marketing activities.

"The Purdue Research Park is celebrating its 50th anniversary this fiscal year, and we now have four sites across Indiana with over 200 companies generating more than 4,000 jobs," Hornett said. "As part of our anniversary celebration, we had an independent report compiled that illustrates the park's $1.3 billion annual economic impact in Indiana."

Companies in the park network are growing the sectors of advanced manufacturing, agricultural science, defense, engineering, industrial technology, information technology and life sciences.

The foundation was recognized in the following categories:

* Platinum award for ads/billboard: "4 Locations. 200 Companies. 4,000 Jobs."

* Platinum award for annual report/nonprofit: "Delivering Discoveries. Improving Lives."

* Platinum award for annual report design (print): "Delivering Discoveries. Improving Lives."

* Gold award for speechwriting: "Purdue Research Park Entrepreneurship Academy."

* Gold award for annual report writing: "Delivering Discoveries. Improving Lives."

The Texas-based Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals receives about 5,000 entries annually for its MarCom Awards, which is one of the world's largest creative competitions. The mission of the awards is to honor excellence and recognize the creativity of marketing professionals.

Other 2011 MarCom Platinum Award winners include Aflac, Columbus, Ga.; the American Veterinary Medical Association, Schaumburg, Ill.; Fifth Third Bancorp, Hebron, Ky.; Hilton Hotels & Resorts, McClean, Va.; J.D. Power and Associates, Orange, Calif.; Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, Baltimore; Navy Pier, Chicago; U.S. Air Force; and the University of Notre Dame, Mendoza College, Notre Dame, Ind.
