Purdue Research Park-based health care IT consulting firm earns city, state WBE certifications

June 15, 2011

INDIANAPOLIS - A firm based at the Purdue Research Park of Indianapolis that provides IT products and services to clients in the health-care sector has received city and state certifications that could help clients reach diversity-driven goals.

CoreTech Revolution has received city and state Women Business Enterprise (WBE) certifications, which means that a woman or group of women own, control and operate at least 51 percent of a company. CoreTech Revolution supports its health-care sector clients by providing project management, implementing vendor applications and developing custom applications.

Michelle Burton, founder and president of CoreTech Revolution, said the WBE certification is about diversifying the business world. Several government agencies and corporations must annually award a percentage of their business to women-owned companies. The WBE certification ensures that officials know which companies are owned and operated by women.

"The WBE certification is designed to expand opportunities and eliminate barriers within the community for women business owners," she said. "Having this certification allows us to help our customers meet their corporate goals to include diversity within their organizations. It allows us to show our customers who we are and what we stand for."

Burton said the company also now is listed on the Central Contractor Registration (CCR), the U.S. government's primary vendor database. Vendors must be registered in CCR to be awarded government contracts.

"The CCR website is very helpful in leading a business owner through the process of being listed on the database," she said. "After submitting the application online, it takes about five business days to complete the process."

Burton said CoreTech Revolution expects to hear about its application for national WBE certification, which will benefit the firm.

"Without these certifications, we would be unable to do work with many of our clients," she said.
