Richard 'Smokey' Young to use SwiftFuel for Sept. 11 airspeed record attempt

THERMAL, Calif., and WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Richard "Smokey" Young will attempt to establish a new 100-kilometer closed-course speed record using SwiftFuel, an unleaded, high-octane biofuel developed and produced by Swift Enterprises Ltd. The company is based at the Purdue Research Park of West Lafayette.

Time/date: 8 a.m. PDT Saturday (Sept. 11).

Additional information for media:
* Young's flight will last approximately 30 minutes.
* Within 30 minutes of landing, Young and his team will know whether they have set an unofficial record. An observer from the National Aeronautic Association will complete paperwork to send to the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale for official certification of the record.
