Jerome Adams, Purdue Presidential Fellow and former US surgeon general, media availability April 30 at Fairgrounds
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. —Lack of access to health care and good nutrition, major issues with substance abuse, and inadequate broadband and education in rural America are causing many people to struggle with getting and staying healthy.
Jerome Adams, presidential fellow at Purdue University and the 20th U.S. surgeon general, will be joined by Karen Plaut, the Glenn W. Sample Dean of the Purdue College of Agriculture, and Jason Henderson, director of Purdue Extension, to answer questions from the media regarding rural health and health equity before Adams addresses the annual Purdue Ag Alumni Fish Fry.
Adams, Plaut and Henderson will be available for questions at 10 a.m. Saturday (April 30) in the Blue Ribbon Pavilion Director’s Office on the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Adams is committed to changing the current rural health narrative by leveraging existing community connections in rural communities. With offices in all 92 Indiana counties and established partnerships with community organizations, Purdue Extension is positioned to respond to the needs of Hoosiers.
