Purdue to announce major international food safety grant

WHAT: Announcement of a multimillion-dollar grant to fund a Purdue food innovation lab aimed at increasing awareness and developing environments for food safety around the world.

WHEN: 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13; Dauch Alumni Center, Purdue University campus

TOUR: Before the event, media are invited on a tour of the Philip E. Nelson Hall of Food Science labs and facilities at 11 a.m.  

SPEAKERS: Purdue President Mitch Daniels; Karen Plaut, the Glenn W. Sample Dean of the Purdue College of Agriculture; Bonnie Glick, deputy administrator, U.S. Agency for International Development; Haley Oliver, Purdue associate professor of food science; and Martin Wiedmann, Cornell University professor of food science. Legislative aides from congressional offices also will be on hand to celebrate the announcement.
